Congratulations to Smoky Valley's Gretchen Elliott for being chosen as the Secondary Teacher of the Year Finalist for Region 1 of the Kansas Teacher of the Year Award in Salina on Saturday, April 1! This award recognizes excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms across the state of Kansas.
As the finalist for the Kansas Teacher of the Year distinction, Mrs. Elliott will receive a $2,000 cash award. In addition, she is now eligible to be named 2024 Kansas Teacher of the Year, which will be announced during a ceremony Saturday, Sept. 23, in Wichita.
