Smoky Valley Virtual Charter School was established in 2004 and was among the first accredited virtual charters schools in the state of Kansas. Smoky Valley Virtual Charter School gives students the opportunity to attend school from home while offering a program tailored to students who need to complete and gain credits to graduate from high school. While SVVCS still offers courses for traditional students, it also provides additional flexibility in regaining credits while students work on courses needed to complete the requirements of Smoky Valley, USD 400 and the State of Kansas to receive a high school diploma.
