We currently have an instructor available via phone, text, Google Hangout and email for all English, History, Math and Science classes. DO THE INSTRUCTORS REQUIRE STUDENTS TO BE ONLINE ON A SPECIFIC DAY AND TIME?

Our instructors do not provide direct instruction or “live videos.” All curriculum is pre-built which allows students to work at their own pace and access instructors as needed for help and support. However, students ARE required to meet with a ‘seminar’ teacher weekly. Seminar is a weekly standing appointment where students meet with their specified teacher at a specific time and day of the week. These meetings, which typically last about 20 minutes, and include a social emotional conversation, a time to discuss important dates/information, and allows students the opportunity to ask any or share any questions or concerns that they might have.

CAN A STUDENT MAKE THEIR OWN SCHEDULE?

Yes! In fact, we WANT you to create a schedule that is most conducive to the student and family structure. We recognize that there are a lot of dynamics that may result in the need for a student to create their own schedule! As long as the student meets the requirements for completing school work and complete the weekly seminar, the family is welcome to create a schedule that works best for the student! Please note that though students are allowed to create a schedule flexible to family needs and work habits, it is imperative that the family works cohesively to create a schedule that everyone will support the student in meeting.

IS A STUDENT REQUIRED TO WORK A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF HOURS EACH WEEK?

6-12TH GRADE: A student in 6-12th grade is expected to complete 60 activities per week. This typically equates to about 20-25 hours per week. If a student does this, he/she will be on track to graduate with his/her cohort or peer group. Typically, meeting the 60 requirements each week, for an entire semester, also allows a student to complete at least six classes each semester; the lead teacher has the right to adjust this number to fit specific work loads of students, if necessary.
