Coach Troy Miller is entering his 8th year at Smoky Valley High School (Lindsborg, KS) with a combined record of 73-72. Coach Miller graduated from Buhler High School in 1981. He then went on to Hutchinson Community College where he played for Coach Billy Hughes. He continued his education at Fort Hays State University and played one year under Vern Hendricks. He graduated in 1985 with a major in Industrial Education. During his summer playing career he was a fill in for the Hutchinson Broncs and Keni Alaska. He also played on the Topeka Capital City Bankers. Coach Miller has coached at levels ranging from little league to college baseball. He started his high school coaching career at La Sierra High School (Riverside, California) under Mike Duckworth. His first head coaching assignment was at Perris High School (Perris, California) where he earned co-coach of the year in the tough Ivy League in California. He then helped out at Hutchinson Community College with Coach John Burgi. He also was an assistant coach at Hutchinson High School under Steve Williams. Coach Miller taught in Fredonia, KS. and coached American Legion there during the summer. In 2001 Smoky Valley High School finished second in the state. Coach Miller was named 4A Coach of the year (2001). His family includes his wife Suzanne of 20 years, and his three children J.W. (17) a 11th at SVHS, T.J. (15) an 10th grader at SVHS and daughter Maci (13) an 8th grader at LMS. |
