In addition to core curriculum instruction, students at Soderstrom receive regular instruction in general music, physical education, and library/information skills. Strings instruction is offered through the music department starting in 4th grade. Easy access to computers and other types of technology is available to all students.

CHUMS Mentoring Program
The CHUMS program is designed to provide academic, social, and emotional support for students. Soderstrom students in the CHUMS program are matched one-on-one with volunteer students from Bethany College. CHUMS meet after school at Soderstrom on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. The first 50 minutes are spent working on academics, such as homework, studying for tests, practicing basic skills, etc. The last 10 minutes are spent doing something fun such as shooting baskets, reading a book, or swinging on the swings. Students are referred to the CHUMS program by staff. Director of the program is Mrs. Jodie Norberg and Assistant Director is Mrs. Karol Carr.

Parent Teacher Organization
The Soderstrom Parent Teacher Organization is an active group within our school.  They are very supportive with their time and money to help us provide a quality education for all of our students.  If you are interested in joining the Parent Teacher Organization group, there will be several opportunities to register during the school year, or you may check with the school office.

Reading Enhancement and Math Tutoring
We offer extra assistance within the school day for students who are struggling with reading or math. For more information on these programs, please go to the Reading and Math pages.
