19 years as a teacher - para for several summers at migrant Head Start

I grew up in Minnesota and always knew I wanted to be a teacher. After college, I moved to Colorado Springs and taught middle school math for six years before moving to Kansas. I taught elementary school for two years. Then, in 2013, I adopted my three kiddos and became a special education teacher. Life has been pretty busy since then! In 2019, I helped open an alternative school in Newton on the EmberHope Youthville campus. That was a very rewarding but challenging experience. In 2021, I got remarried and inherited two bonus kiddos! We are now a family of seven with two dogs and a bunch of chickens. We live in McPherson and spend much of our time swimming, attending concerts/recitals, and going to our kids' events. When I have time, I like to cook, craft, go to musicals, read, and play board games. I also love to travel!

I love helping kids find meaning and success in things. Whether it is reaching a progress monitoring goal, completing a class, or celebrating something outside of school like getting a driver's license or a new job, I enjoy finding accomplishments that students have achieved.
