Importance

A good batting stance, swing, and bat can make the difference between if you hit a single, ground out, or go down swinging. Pitchers have certain pitches they use at certain times to get you out. A quicker swing can get you a good you a good hit off a fastball but there also has to be connection between bat and ball. Being a royals fan I have seen some pretty bad hitting and some good hitting. Most of the good hitting came from George Brett.

Bat Choice

Choosing a bat can help you in many ways. Some have bigger barrels some have smaller barrels some are heavy some are not as heavy. A heavier bat means you kneed a quicker swing. If this is the case than you might want to choke up on the bat. Choking up means to move your hands farther up on the bat enough to quicken your swing.

Stance Rituals and Batting

Your stance should require you to bend your knees and have your shoulder in allignment with the pitchers mound. Before the ball is thrown you need your feet still your hands locke on the bat and your knees bent. What seems to help some people is that if you take a deep breath in and a deap breath out to calm yourself. When the ball is thrown keep your eyes locked on the ball. if you're nervouse then take the first pitch. To take a pitch means to not swing but act like you will. if you feel confident then you should swing, but only at pitches that are from your waist to your chin not too far inside or too far outside.

Every batter has a qurik that makes them do something before they bat some swing their bat a certain amount of times or stare down the pither while looking at their bat. It doesn't matter what you do as long as it is the same every time. I swing my bat back and forth 5 times each time hitting some dirt. The five times also again goes back to #5 3rd base for the Kansas City Royals Gearge Brett.

Batting isn't the hardest part, but it is difficult. To get a good hit your hand need to hold the bat firmly in your hands and not let the barrel trail your hands, or behind them. A tight grip should fix that problem. You also Want your back foot Anchored and you should take a small step with your front foot. When you swing you should twist your hips and pivot on your back foot. Then last of all you should start sprinitng.

The overall point of this site is to let you see what potentially you can do in the batters box. My hitting staerted out bad but it got better as you saw in the clips. You as a viewer have to decide weather this might help.
